A Place To Be
Paper wants to find his special place
Wind has traveled with his friend Paper for many miles. High and low they have flown, all over the world, but they have not found a home for Paper.
Paper is sad because he does not have a home. Wind is determined to help Paper find his place to be. Where will they find Paper’s special place. Travel together with these wayfaring friends as they try to find a home for Paper and keep him away from the Great Waste Pile. . . . uplifting story . . .
“A Place To Be is an uplifting story of the power of friendship and how friends can help you to believe, to persist, and to find what you are looking for.” . . . encouraging . . .
So many people are looking for a home where they can feel special and loved. . . . great message . . .
A Place To Be is a story about determination and belonging. It has a great message, important to teach to young readers. My class really enjoyed this book and loved seeing all the places Paper traveled to." |
Beautifully Illustrated by Stan Jaskiel
A Place To Be was my first illustration project I did with T.E.Watson and it was a smooth and enjoyable process.
The art style he requested was something rather new for me and it proved to be a fun and refreshing change of pace from the illustration styles I typically do. T.E. was very clear and decisive in his art direction and that made the process on my end move along very smoothly.
I'm really looking forward to working with him on his next book and hope everyone enjoys A Place To Be !"

What children are saying:
It's amazing! I like Paper and Wind and I like Paper the best. I like all the places they went."
Adalyn (8 years old )
(Adalyn came to my booth where I was selling the books and read a Place To Be cover-to-cover with rapt attention. This is the biggest compliment I could ever receive. T.E. Watson)
Something I like about about the book is it teaches you to help your friends, and to never give up. I also liked how how it teaches you to make right choices and not to rush anything.
I also like how detailed the drawings are."
- Mallory Mulconrey (15 years old)
I liked how detailed the book was and how all the places gave an explanation of why Paper couldn't or shouldn't stay.
I liked how it was trying to avoid being a part of the waste pile because it's an issue for the environment.
I like how, at the end, Paper found his happy place and can inspire people to never give up. I really liked how, towards the end, all the places Paper traveled, were drawn on Paper . And then Paper remembered every place, and was happy after all."
- Madison Mulconrey (13 years)
We really liked the new story book A Place to Be by T.E.Watson.
We enjoyed it because it felt free and wild. My two favorite characters were Ocean and High Mountains because we thought they are beautiful.
There was nothing we did not like about like about the book.
Our favorite part was the way the story ended."
Sydney and Bronco Keefe (9 and 8 years of age, respectively)
(Thank you Sydney and Bronco. T.E.Watson)
From a school librarian:
I loved how you integrated the recycle message into the story of the paper’s journey to find out where it belonged. The journey is a great message of the importance of how everywhere we go teaches us something different, but only one place is the place we belong. That place gives us the feeling of peace and belonging.
For our students, it can show them that no matter what they struggle with, there is a place for them to succeed."

... a perfect book for foster kids ...
I think this is a perfect book for foster kids because these kids all want a place to be and they don't have a home, just like the paper floating. A lot of times these kids are passed around from home to home and they really want their own place to be, and this book would give them hope for that. I can see foster parents getting this book and reading it to foster kids.
I enjoyed the book and felt that the artwork went well with the story the whole time. It is a charming, sweet book. I can see adults reading this book to kids because there is meaning to it. It's not just a piece of fluff."
